“Remembering The Dementia Of The Militia”

Holy smokes!  One of the first thing’s I ever recorded in The (old) Kennel in Dumbo was this band called Remenitia.  I was inexperienced, they were young and broke… it could have gone better. (I wish I could redo it for them).

Anyway, they kinda disappeared, I never got a CD and I occasionally do a search to see if I can find some audio evidence.  Today I did!

Here you go.

Not sure all of these are my tracks from The Kennel, but some definitely are (Depression, Female Duty,  and Role Model… I think – the others sound to good to have been me).

Ohh.. and some video:

War Dogs Live at Otto’s Shurnken Head.

Role Model Video (Maybe my audio?)

Ah memories.

The spending of the money

Well, the die is cast.  This thing showed up earlier this week.

Many thanks to Ron and the gang at Sterling Modular for hooking me up with some B-stock to save some dough!!!

It will hold the patch bay on the right and the the converters, Rascal Audio Tone Box and maybe the API2500 on the left.

This image shows an Avid s3 in the center but I’ll be opting for an SSL Nucleus (series 1).

But first… room treatment.  In the works.

Long time coming

It’s been a while since I’ve had an adequate space of my own in which to work.  15 years actually.  Don’t get me wrong, I love working at other people’s shops and will continue to do so… but you know… sometimes you wanna sing in your underwear at 2 in the morning.

Last week we closed on a new home… with a finished basement.  So I give you the first sneak peek at the new Whelping Box studio:Screen Shot 2017-08-25 at 12.54.29 PM

Mix room looking to front

More to come…

La la la la la la laaaaaaaaaaaa!

Spent the day doing vocals at Ray Ketchem’s lovely studio again.

I’m not really a singer, but I have a pretty good high lonesome harmony shtick.  And I got to do it all day today into this:

e47

I’ve not spent any time in front of a real Neuman u47 (although Ray says he has one), but I’m not sure how much more vocal mic you could want.  It was a real pleasure to yell at this thing all day.

And now I’m saving up… again.
