I Dink, Therefore I Am

Very Proud to announce the release of the latest EP from The Ditty Committee: I Dink, Therefore I am.

Recorded by your’s truly at The Kennel Recording Studio and The Whelping Box and Guantanamotown.  Mixed at The Whelping Box.

Available at Bandcamp, iTunes, CD Baby and eventually on Spotify.

Overdubs…

I did my first be of tracking at The End Studios.  Sportsman’s Paradise came in to finish up their debut record and things got a little out or hand in only the very finest way.  I sometimes think if you don’t feel like thinks are a a little out of control, then nobody’s really being creative.  These guys were being very creative… and the results were hilarious, awesome and solidly RAWK.

Can’t wait to mix.

Moving on…

Big news…

I’ve moved some of my gear (including my Otari MTR 90 MkII 2″ tape machine) to The End Studios in Greenpoint Brooklyn.  Its a great studio with killer gear and it’s run by some very cool cats.  I am truly psyched to be able to work at this studio!!!

Here’s a quick pic of the old girl in her new home…

Parts is Parts…

…and THESE parts is for a pair of power supplies for a pair of U-67(ish) mics I’m a building (in case you did not know that already).

Sportsman’s Paradise

Last weekend I spent the better part of 3 days recording Sportsman’s Paradise.  I could not be happier… and apparently, neither can they!!!  Plus they bring their own Christmas lights… how do you beat that?

“…this weekend was by far the best recording experience I have had in my “storied” “career” as a “musician.” Thanks again for your encouragement, enthusiasm, expertise, support, and generosity. Looking forward to putting the “salt and pepper” on the tracks and unleashing this mighty rock behemoth upon an unsuspecting world!” -Rob

“If you’re working with James at the Kennel, you’re working with the best!” -Tom

You can’t imagine what that kind of shit means to an engineer.

Vocals vocals vocals…

Recorded some vocals this weekend using this new acquisition.  I’m very impressed with the smooth top end, the highs are there and clear but not at all hyped or harsh.  Can I still say things like “smooth” and “silky” in the industry?  Smooth and Silky.  Sue me.

Money well spent (especially when it doubles as a kick drum/bass cabinet mic).
